  • Once upon a time in the now

    Illustration is a characteristic/property of memory. It projects the depiction as a necessary expression and it transforms it into visual speech to narrate characteristic trails of a symbolic era/story. We tell stories that empower human genius and justify pain; the primitive pain for our relationship with void and the connection of the soul with the matter.

    Human as a being presents a special quality in natural world. He has the right to represent life. The first depictions were human illustrations of those who lived in the caves of the earth; the first reflection of our natural presence in existence; the first narration of a story, the first construction/creation of a myth, the first political act and the religious feeling was established.

    This reading is important for the way an image defines the natural presence of human and serves the constant transformation of representation that the human being is undergoing /experiences as a reference symbol. The position of body in space reflects the reaction to the stimuli of life. And space as a physical construction is experienced emotionally. Their interaction matures our feeling of consciousness.

    In the art of photography realism expressed a transcendent conflict  - what the Indians referred to as “the stealing of the soul” – which is nothing else but the fulfilling of the void. It is the reflection as a literal expression in human presence and in the form that changes and is apprehended, with the quality of speech each of us possesses. Perceptively, it exposed the pluralism of expression and highlighted the moment as the point-picture where the soul interacts with the matter.

    This primitive need of communication constantly creates an image that with its aesthetic power can fulfill the void. The effort is to define anew a view in our surrounding space and create expressively a perceptive sensitivity and thrill.

Λέμε ιστορίες που εμψυχώνουν την ανθρώπινη διάνοια και δικαιολογούν τον πόνο Τον αρχέγονο πόνο για τη σχέση μας με το κενό και τη σύνδεση της ψυχής με την ύλη.

    Ο άνθρωπος ως οντότητα παρουσιάζει μια ξεχωριστή ιδιότητα στο φυσικό μας κόσμο. Έχει το δικαίωμα να αναπαριστά τη ζωή. Οι πρώτες αναπαραστάσεις ήταν οι εικονογραφήσεις του ανθρώπου που έζησε στις σπηλιές της γης. Το πρώτο αντικαθρέφτισμα της φυσικής μας παρουσίας στην ύπαρξη Η πρώτη αφήγηση μιας ιστορίας, η πρώτη κατασκευή του μύθου, η πρώτη πολιτική πράξη και το θρησκευτικό συναίσθημα κατοχυρώθηκε.

    Αυτή η ανάγνωση κατανοείται ως σημαντική για τον τρόπο που η εικόνα καθορίζει τη φυσική παρουσία του ανθρώπου και εξυπηρετεί ως σύμβολο αναφοράς το διαρκή μετασχηματισμό των αναπαραστάσεων που βιώνει ο ίδιος. Η στάση του σώματος στον χώρο απεικονίζει την αντίδραση στα ερεθίσματα της ζωής. Και ο χώρος ως φυσική κατασκευή βιώνεται συναισθητικά. Η αλληλεπίδραση τους ωριμάζει τη συνειδητή μας αίσθηση.

    Στη τέχνη της φωτογραφίας ο ρεαλισμός εκδήλωσε μια υπερβατική αντιπαράθεση – αυτό που οι ινδιάνοι έλεγαν “κλέψιμο της ψυχής” - δεν είναι τίποτα άλλο παρά η πλήρωση του κενού. Είναι το αντικαθρέφτισμα ως κυριολεξία, στην ανθρώπινη παρουσία, και στη μορφή του που μεταβάλλεται και διαπιστώνεται με την ανάλογη ποιότητα λόγου που κατέχουμε. Αντιληπτικά εξέθεσε τον πλουραλισμό της έκφρασης και ανέδειξε τη στιγμή ως το σημείο-εικόνα που η ψυχή συνδιαλέγεται με την ύλη.

    Αυτή η αρχέγονη ανάγκη επικοινωνίας, διαρκώς δημιουργεί μια εικόνα που θα μπορέσει με την αισθητική της δύναμη να ικανοποιήσει το κενό. Η προσπάθεια είναι να ορίσει εκ νέου μια θέαση στον χώρο που μας περιβάλλει και εκφραστικά να μας δημιουργήσει αντιληπτική ευαισθησία και συγκίνηση.

  • / Ancestral land

    Once upon a time, a nameless man grew up in an unknow land.

    He was strong in his sentiments but weak in his sensitivity.

    The land was in the middle of a sea.

    A lonely presence, simplicity was the beauty to see.

    His father had three kids. He was the older one.

    The father thought to give him the responsibility of all family fortune.

    A fortune that he bought - in manner good or bad, piece by piece

    - spending all his life on it.

    Locals call it the Land of Anger.

    The oldest son had the land, till a day he sold it for a million.

    Maybe he did it, to liberate the land from the anger.

    He had nothing to create. His sensitivity led him to melancholy.

    Locals understood and asked for mercy, so he, as the fortunate helped them

    to survive in better conditions in the middle of the sea.

    They took all his money.

    Till one day he asked for mercy for food to survive. They gave him nothing.

    So he left the unknown land and went to the main land.

    There a beautiful, high, narrow and long bridge.

    He jumped out to the void and he killed himself.

    “You know my friend, there simplicity is all and all is simplicity” said Daniel.

  • / Original Sin

    Once upon a time Nektarios refused his land.

    His relationship with his mother was no way out. No father to share their life. He kept a distance by letting her alive alone. Never more for eternity.

    His education was rich. Ancient Greek and Sanskritic literature. German, french, english and contemporary greek speaking fluently. In Mount Athos he became a monk, praying and working in literature for the great Orthodox monastery.

    One day he met Fabienne. She worked as a fashion designer in Paris and was a mother of 5. All had grow up enough to become independent. She felt freedom was a limit to dare and retired from the world. She trusted herself as a Queen, knowing how to share quality of matter and elegance of attitude.

    She was surviving as a nun at that moment they met. He fell in love with her.   

    Nektarios decided to accompany Fabienne in her life. She as Panayia, the Mother of God, had all the qualities for him to serve her for ever more. They went to Samothraki, where the winged victory, Niki was created. The art masterpiece of a female angel, the ancient symbol of victory.

    They lived, as anchorites on mountain Saos next to 1000 waterfalls inside the forest of plane trees. Both had one common truth in heart. They believed in an empowering ancestral story, not the one given officially by the church.

    “Adam and Eve, a couple God created with love, symbolizes incarnation in matter.

    The apple tree symbolizes the sense of self nature.

    The snake as Asclepius mentioned it,  symbol of sacred beings of wisdom, healing, and resurrection.

    The apple which was given to Adam by Eve symbolizes pure quality of existence; Love to connect, relief after pain, trust over believe, presence pass fear, conscience before death, self over ego.

    Eve receives the charisma to transport the seed of life, offers the seed to her companion. Adam indeed accepts the honor of perceiver to serve life as the eye of God.

    Like Meister Eckhart says ''The eye by which I see God is the same as the eye by which God sees me. My eye and God's eye are one and the same.''

    Adam and Eve as one element of life feel gratitude for the experience of life. They live in company taking care of the path of existence”.

    When the story was said, Fabiene and Nektarios admitted “If no Bible existed to describe the values I feel, I would create one myself. Therefore I see inner The Garden of Eden. Remember, God created us in his own image. The seed of Knowledge given was his charisma of Synthesis. Good and evil is all an aesthetic attitude”.

  • / The old fisherman

    The old fisherman told me

    Listen to the steps of others, but don’t play the mime.

    Go from rock to rock to find the Minotaur.

    It seems that life has the color blues.

    When I heard the secret I understood

    how to follow the labyrinth of life.

    I have a sword made of 4 elements.

    Fire: heart with courage

    Air: stomach without anger

    Water: chest with kindness

    Earth: shoulders without vanity 

    I believe.

    I can look at the Minotaur in the eye.

    The laws of soul guide me to the labyrinth.

    The soul experience incarnation.

    The labyrinth could be a drawing on the sand.

    An ant is walking on the drawings and disturbing it.

    I had drawn it with details and its walls lead to the Minotaur.

    An ant made me see the labyrinth from above.

    Maybe I see like a God now. The lines are geometrical.

    God said: with geometry we have constructed the world.

    The ant is only searching obviously for winter food.

    It crosses the labyrinth without realizing me.

    Perhaps nature teaches Irony.
